What to expect:
- When you come in: Take off your socks and shoes and, if you like, pick a pair of Reiki Socks from the basket. You may be asked to fill out some paperwork.
- Next: Decide if you want to be face up, face down, or both (depending on the length of your treatment). Lie down on the massage table and relax. Set an intention for your healing (you do not have to share this intention with the practitioner, but remember that reiki is always done for the greater good). The practitoner will usually play music, and may ring some kind of chime or bell to let you know the treatment is beginning. Usually you will feel the first touch on your head.
- During the treatment: Try to lie still and stay relaxed. It is o.k. to talk. You may have your eyes open or closed. The practitioner will work on various parts of your body, usually working from the head to the feet, sometimes from side to side. Everyone's experience of reiki is different. Some people experience emotional release, and it is not uncommon for people to cry during a session. Some people laugh, some see colors or have "visions" or hear music. Many people simply relax and fall asleep.
- When Finished: Sit up slowly. You may want to drink some water. At this time you may put your socks and shoes back on.
- Lastly: Please pick a "fortune" out of the box (this will be a little message of something that you needed to know that day).
- Then, have a great rest of the day, and come back and see us soon!
